Looking at the map records of drought over Australia in the last century, only 34 years had average (or better) humid years. Trees can either store harmful pollutants or actually change the pollutant into less harmful forms. In addition, a new layer of wood is added around the trunk, branches, and roots. The oaks of this region tend to be evergreen species. I find it interesting to study where the pruning is taking place, and which direction a branch takes after it has been pruned near a bud. I really like this oak because of its fast growth, uniquely shaped leaves and nice orange to red fall color, similar to a swamp white oak.
